August 26 videoVideo DVD (street art). "Exit through Gift Shop" is a quasi-documentary on the underground world of street art by Frenchman Thierry Guetta that takes an unexpected twist at the end.
September 23 watercolorFloy Zittin (watercolor on gesso). Floy’s formal education was in biology. Her art career began when she needed to illustrate her own papers for publication. This led to work as a scientific illustrator and she spent 10 years working on textbooks and field guides while she and her husband were living in British Columbia. Since returning to California in 1983, she has been focusing on watercolor particularly depicting birds with an oriental touch. Her paintings possess a unique depth of field affect. She teaches classes and workshops and her work can be seen at Viewpoints Gallery, Los Altos and Alexander’s Fine Art, Pleasanton, CA. Visit her website at www.floyzittin.com.

watercolorDebbie Bakker (watercolorist). After her first career as an elementary school reading specialist, Debbie decided to tackle children’s literature from the other side of the table – as an illustrator. She is a recent graduate of the Academy of Art University Illustration BFA, is currently a member of SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), and is working toward entering the publishing arena (and is happy to share her resources and experiences). Her painting focuses primarily on images to delight children, as well as the child in all of us! She has shown her work publicly and in juried shows for the past four years in various San Francisco and Bay Area locations/competitions. Debbie combines her love of teaching and her love of visual storytelling by teaching art classes whenever possible. View her website at www.DebbieBakkerArt.com.

November 18 videoVideo DVD (using salt). Any artist familiar with videos by Judy Morris, AWS, will want to see “TUSCAN TEXTURES, Rich Textures Using Salt.”  Judy takes the mystery out of choosing the right colors and salts to achieve amazingly rich textures.  She shows the versatility of watercolor and the subtle differences combining various types of paint (opaques, transparents, stains, etc.) that paper and salts will achieve.  Judy charges in color while the salt is doing its work and tweaks it after all is dry.  She breaks a few “rules” as she spots in color contrasts and finishes with glazing an opaque to make a textured surface that is a vibrant feast!  Judy’s video will make everyday walls an inviting subject for any watercolorist.
